About Me

I have over ten years of experience working with people who experience mental health problems. I have been providing CBT to adults, adolescents and groups for five years.

I live in Dublin, although a CBT session with me takes place remotely over MS Teams meaning you can attend from the comfort of your own home. Research has shown that online therapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy.

I currently work as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist in one of Ireland’s leading psychiatric hospitals where I work with adults, adolescents and groups. On a limited basis, I offer CBT (online only) in my spare time (evenings and weekends).

Qualifications

I became interested in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy during my work with people who experienced substance use problems and mental health problems in 2014. I have a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master of Science in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from Trinity College Dublin. TCD is one of three universities in Ireland whose course content mirrors the accreditation criteria for two Irish bodies associated with Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy (IABCP and CBTI).

I am fully qualified CBT therapist and a member of the BABCP / IABCP.

Pure CBT

This means that I am a CBT specialist. Clients receive pure CBT and can rest assured that while therapy provision is under-regulated, they are receiving CBT in its purest form provided in the way it is intended to be used. A consequence of this is that I do not offer other forms of therapy such as psychodynamic, humanistic or integrative therapy which may be better suited to some people and/or particular problems. I use CBT and Schema therapy techniques depending on the presenting problems.

I can discuss this with you during an assessment. If either of us feel that you would benefit from a different form of therapy, I will give you guidance on where to access this as well as why I feel that CBT is not appropriate for you and the problems you describe.
